DISPOSABLE DIAMOND ABRASIVES

The center for disease control & prevention clearly states that all dental instruments that penetrate soft or hard tissues or come in contact with the oral tissues must be sterilized after each use, to prevent cross contamination. However for dental burs .the multi step debriding, cleaning & sterilization procedures are time consuming.

The disposable diamond bur is a recent introduction that minimizes the risk of cross contamination of blood borne pathogens. Some of them are marketed as cobra, monosteryl, neo, SS White & spring. The disposable burs have an added advantage that a new, sharp cutting instrument is provided for every patient.
