ABRASIVE WHEELS & POINTS

By Dr. Vishaal Bhat on Friday 28 January 2011 with 0 comments

Abrasives impregnated in rubber polishing wheels are usually composed of variously sized particles of Aluminum oxide or silica. They are used primarily for eliminating coarse grooves & ditches in the metal & rendering it smooth & ready for the polishing operation. Wheels are used to polish flat or convex surfaces .In smaller more delicate forms, these abrasives are available as thin knife-edged wheels or as cone shaped polishing points. These are used to polish concave surfaces, grooves & occlusal surfaces of metal, usually gold (in lab & chair side).
