4 shapes of the hard palate

-4 shapes of the hard palate in cross-section: flat, rounded, “U” or “V”

-a flat palate resists vertical displacement but is easily displaced by lateral or torquing forces.

-the rounded or “U”-shaped palate has the best resistance to vertical and lateral forces.

-the “V”-shaped is the most difficult because any vertical or torquing movement tends to break the seal of the denture.
