a. location: deep to anterior belly of the digastric and superficial to the geniohyoid

b. origin: mylohyoid line of mandible

c. insertion: a median raphae that extends from the symphysis of the mandible to the hyoid bone.

d. action: when mandible is fixed, it draws the hyoid bone forward and upward.
